Occupational Therapy (OT) is the art and science of helping people perform the day-to-day activities that are important to them despite impairment, disability, or handicap. For children, these may include vital daily activities such as eating, dressing, school work, and play. Children with a variety of difficulties and diagnoses will benefit from OT including: sensory processing disorders (SPD), autism, challenging behaviors, and feeding issues.
Physical Therapy (PT) facilitates motor skill development and its components including balance, coordination, flexibility, strength and endurance. For infants and children, this may include the ability to sit independently, crawl, walk, run, and climb. Children with a variety of diagnoses will benefit from PT including: prematurity, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, and developmental delays.
Therapy Programs
Our experienced therapists individualize each child's therapy program and may include a variety of treatment approaches such as sensory integrative techniques, Therapeutic Listening ProgramTM, coordination activities, craniosacral therapy, NDT techniques, stretching, and massage. Parents are a vital part of their child's therapy program and are encouraged to participate in their child's therapy program as much as possible. Therapy is provided in our office, children's homes, and child care settings
Pediatric OT
Special Interest Group
We are a group of pediatric OTs that work in the community. This group provides an opportunity for therapists to network, share ideas, and earn points towards their NBCOT recertification. Feel free to invite interested therapists of different disciplines to join us for an interesting discussion.
The OT group meetings generally take place the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm at Amaryllis Therapy Network.
